I found a cool tool online. It's a gradebook online that students and parents can also access. You can even create grade reports using this resource. This is the link:

The only not-so-great thing about it is that is costs money. I'm sure there are similar things out there that are free. Or you could create your own thing like it. But for those who are not into making their own websites and such, this could be a good resource.

The next thing I'd like to learn relating to technology has nothing to do with this class really. I want to get a music program on my computer that allows me to record music and mess with it, but I need one that's really easy to use. All my motivation will be lost if it's difficult to use. Maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list..

My friend Cody is really into this music stuff on his computer, so he can probably help me. Over Christmas break, we want to get together and make a demo or something. It should be really cool.

Chapter 8 was about the security issues and ethics in technolgy. Viruses are always a problem in technology, so antivirus programs are a must. Also, authorization is a must to prevent problems. Filtering porgrams are necessary to prevent students from accessing objectionable materials.

I haven't really learned much since last class other than what I wrote in the last post. I guess I learned how to use the chatroom thing on blackboard. That was kind of cool.

Next month, I believe, Bonnaroo tickets go on sale. I went last summer and I cannot wait to go again. If you don't know what it is, it's a 4-day-long music festival in Tennessee in June. It's amazing. Totally different world. I highly recommend going if you love music and meeting some crazy people.

Chapter 7 was about evaluating educational technology. It's important for teachers to be able to determine what programs work for them. To evaluate software, you use a rubric. To evaluate a web source, pay attention to authority, affiliation, content, audience, and currency.

Last week we did the wiki project. It was cool because I learned how to make a class page. I could definitely use that as a teacher as a way for students to always know what's going on in class.

Tallahassee is getting cold again. I am not fond of the cold weather at all. I like cool, not cold. And that means I have to put real shoes on now, which I am also not fond of. The only good thing is hot chocolate. Oh and the semester is almost over. Yay winter break! I think I'm going to New York City for New Years. I cannot wait. It's colder there.. but I'll suck it up to see the ball drop. =)

Chapter 6 was about technology integration in the classroom. To accomplish what you wand in the classroom using technology, you have to know what you are actually trying to accomplish within your curriculumn. Also you have to know how to use technology that allows a diverse populatioin of students with many learning styles to be able to learn.

I didn't learn much since my last post because our class has been crazy. So yeah..

Halloween was really depressing for me. I had to work. We got out really late. And I didn't get any candy all day. =( The only thing I did for Halloween was watch the movie Halloween on mute when I got home with my roomie. I guess I'll just have to make up for it next year.
